OpenWengo vs SELinux

Love from the first sight? That could have happen if Wengo-folks would give a lil effort to share with users how to run Wengo on RH distros :/. Wengo looks really great to me but will have to spent some time to actually run it on my beloved FC6.

There and back again and there and back again and…

Huh, finally I’m back!

After few months of absence I’ve finally found some time :) , hope that I’ll have a bit more now when I’m on final semester of my studies.

Anyway, why such a strange title?
After using Fedora for few months (?) I’ve installed one package (was beta but…) which broken whole file system badly. Didn’t know what to do, didn’t have time to solve that, after few days of trying to make my OS working I’ve… switched to Ubuntu. It was around a … month ago. At first I was *really* impressed. But then problems started, with eclipse/easyeclipse mostly. OS became sluggish and I’ll be switching back to Fedora. *Sigh*. My wife says I’m kinda junkie with that switching from one OS to another. Maybe she’s right…

Redhat’s down aka Fedora Core 6 release

Huh, that’s really funny, such a big company unprepared for slash-dotting :P
One could say: “Hey, wasn’t forge.joomla.org choking lately when J! 1.5 beta was release?” But we, J! are not a company, just a bunch of devs, without own office, server farm and so on. Better prepare next time folks. Thanks for new release btw :D .

Anyway, while I’m Fedora addict I’ll wait few days until at least changelog will be available. For those in other timezones: screenshots of down sites below
Fun!

wifi working as it should at last

I’m happy to announce that after recent update of few packages my ipw2200abg can connect to every single wireless network at last!
Before that my shiny Intel wifi didn’t want to connect to network at my uni which was annoying a bit since I spent quite a lot time there.

Thanks for all of you, nameless devs of Fedora Core project :P

SELinux is your enemy? Flash Player & FC5 problem

Ah, silly me!

It wasn’t Adobe/Macromedia fault but the SELinux that was blocking link to the Flash Player :/, honestly! If you’ll have such a problems go to the System -> Security Level and Firewall -> SELinux -> Modify SELinux Policy -> Compatibility -> Allow use of shared libraries with Text Relocation and check it :P .
That’s a long path, isn’t? Anyway, that config parameter doesn’t allow to follow the link to Flash Player (!) and if u download it from the other machine and install Flash Player manually it still will not work unless you check that configuration setting.

Strange!

Fedora Core 5 and 2915ABG

Getting wifi up and running never been so easy under FC5 thanks to fedorajim and his awesome guide which I’ve found here.
